The Office of the Ombuds is serviced by Dr. Hope Torkornoo, Professor of Marketing and International Business in the Coles College of Business and Dr. Chi Zhang, Associate Professor of Information Technology in the College of Computing and Software Engineering, as Kennesaw State University Ombuds.
Since joining KSU in 1992, Dr. Torkornoo has taught at both the graduate and undergraduate
levels and has led several study-abroad trips in the MBA program that resulted in
critical learning opportunities for students in successful cross-cultural engagements.
Dr. Torkornoo has served as a member of several University, college and department
committees, including in promotion and tenure, course review, and diversity.
Dr. Zhang served as an Interim Department Chair of Software Engineering and Game Development in the College from 2016 to 2019. She received her Ph.D. in Information Technology from University of Nebraska Omaha after earning Masters Degrees in Computer Science and Education in Instructional Technology.
An Ombuds provides confidential and informal assistance in the resolution of university-related concerns, especially those not being addressed adequately through normal procedures. He or she is an independent person who attempts to consider all sides of an issue in an impartial and objective manner. An Ombuds cannot impose solutions but can help identify options and strategies for resolution.
